Jillian Simoes, RN, BSN

I am honored to nominate Registered Nurse Jillian Simoes for the DAISY award. Although she is early in her nursing career, Jillian "Jill" demonstrates the compassion, confidence, and professionalism of a seasoned nurse. When my surgery was unexpectedly moved to STAT status, Jill remained calm, organized, and reassuring. She handled every detail efficiently while making sure I understood what was happening. Her calm demeanor helped ease my anxiety and made me feel safe during a stressful experience. Jill was attentive throughout my stay, checking on me often and always making sure I was comfortable. She genuinely cared about me as a person, not just as a patient.

One moment that made me smile was when I told her she was fun, and she replied that I was a fun patient. That simple interaction showed her warmth and ability to connect with those in her care. Before I was discharged, Jill went above and beyond. She carefully reviewed each of my medications, thoroughly explained my post-surgical care instructions, and answered all of my questions without ever making me feel rushed. She also made sure I scheduled an appointment with my primary care physician to meet my insurance requirements. Her attention to detail and commitment to my well-being gave me confidence as I returned home to recover. Jill's compassion, maturity, and dedication made a lasting impression on me. She provided exceptional care during one of the most stressful moments of my life and reminded me how much a caring nurse can change. She is an outstanding young nurse who truly deserves recognition with the DAISY Award.
