Jim greeted everyone with a smile and ensured staff that he was here to get to know our clinic and to make improvements that would help staff and patients.
I have worked with Jim since he started his role in late 2020. I am impressed with his leadership and ability to work well with colleagues. The role of team leader in Danis Pediatrics had been open for several months prior to Jim’s arrival. Many of the staff here in Danis were worried, concerned, and nervous, among many other feelings about who would fulfill the position after our last team lead had dedicated almost 9 years. What style of leadership would this new team lead bring? Would they get along with our growing staff? Would things change drastically? Can they handle all the work? Is this person taking on this big of a role during a Pandemic—are they crazy? I’m here to tell you that all our worries and concerns were put to rest immediately upon meeting Jim.
Jim greeted everyone with a smile and ensured staff that he was here to get to know our clinic and to make improvements that would help staff and patients. Jim immediately went to work gathering information on how the clinic is currently running… Pause… CLINICS! That is right! Jim not only provides leadership over Danis Pediatrics at Cardinal Glennon main hospital but also the Danis Pediatrics Midtown location which helps to serve an at-risk population. These also include several programs such as Primary Care Health Home, Fostering Healthy Children, FACES, Bridge for STL, among other programs that help serve our patients. He has shown his ability to delegate while always making absolutely certain that assigned responsibilities are indeed fulfilled. He has been able to see projects through to the end, including improvements in team morale, performance board measures, and more. He is insightful and has great judgment. He will go above and beyond to find answers to questions in a timely manner.
This was certainly not an easy job role to take on, and Jim has executed it fantastically. His door is always open for any type of interaction. Staff is not afraid to approach Jim with concerns as he handles them in a professional manner. He keeps staff in the loop by huddles and emails. His job is not always easy, but he brings to light hard topics and presents them with a new outlook and approach. He is aware that there are always opportunities for improvement and self-awareness. The many improvements within Danis Pediatrics in such a short time have been great! I feel as though our Press Ganey reports have become more positive due to these quick quality improvements. Staff satisfaction appears to be improved. He continuously checks in on all staff throughout the day. Jim encourages others to strive for the best for our patients and reminds us why we are all here. I’m eager to see what the rest of the year will look like with Jim’s support and guidance. Jim, the quality of leadership you provide to Danis Pediatrics is noteworthy and very much appreciated!
