I am ashamed that I did not send in my recommendation earlier, as we had a great deal of work to do on my husband's recovery. Last year, my husband was hospitalized for 30 days with COVID-he was only 32 years old and was put on a ventilator for 15 days. Needless to say, I was terrified. We had a 4-month-old baby at home, and we had only been married one year and some change. While there were many nurses and therapists that were very helpful, one stood out to me particularly. His name is Jimmy Dipietro. Jimmy took the time to explain everything I had questions about and never made me feel like I needed to hurry up. He put my husband at ease by keeping a calm demeanor and speaking to him during his care- something that many can forget to do in a hurry. There were many things that impressed me, but most of all was how Jimmy went to bat for us to get an allowance for a family member to spend the night with my husband each night- from that day on, his recovery NEVER went backward again. I believe this ultimately made the greatest difference in "C's" recovery. My husband had a temporary trach put in when he woke up. He was so frightened and disoriented that he would lose control and have to be sedated all over again each night, going backward in his recovery- so having a family member stay with him made him feel so much better and calmer. I felt like Jimmy really listened to us and took every concern we had seriously. There were SO many nurses and therapists up there that deserve recognition, but I wanted to specially recommend this nurse for his AMAZING bedside manner and his care for my husband- He even came in on his day off to deliver a cake to my husband because he spent his birthday in the ICU. This was the worst time of my life, and so every little convenience or consideration from the staff made all the difference.
