His calmness, integrity, and compassion for his patients and co-workers speak for themselves.
The new norm for the past year in the emergency room has been rough on the staff, the patient, and their families. The emergency room has a nurse, Jimmy Huynh, RN who has been an asset beyond words that I could possibly describe. Communication to the families about the condition of their loved ones is something very trying. It has been through phone or brief encounter with an RN or a MD in the ER lobby. Jimmy has always made this process bearable for all involved.

Examples: anytime registration needs a nurse to come out to the lobby to ease the pain and concerns of the patient to the family member, Jimmy comes out immediately without hesitation. He is kind, reassuring, and informative with his explanations to the family. His attributes eases their concerns and fears, especially in this COVID times of not being able to be with family members. When there is a stat triage, or any other underlying concerns about a patient sitting in the lobby of the ER, Jimmy will come out and re-assess the patient once again without hesitation.

Jimmy is the glue and strength that holds Petaluma Valley emergency room together. His calmness, integrity, and compassion for his patients and co-workers speak for themselves.

I have worked alongside many nurses this past year and a half from all over the country. This past year and a half have been difficult on the whole world. In perfect world we all should stick together as one! It simply doesn’t happen like that, Here in our ER we experienced many dark times, but even in dark times there’s always that light that shines through and reminds us why we do the work that we do, the light of this ER is Jimmy Huynh. The nickname I have given him around here is “THE GOAT” here is why: No matter how busy the ER is he’s always kind, caring, compassionate, genuine, listener, a leader! A person who can be doing a hundred different things and will stop for ANYONE no matter how small or the question is he will look at you and acknowledge, no matter the circumstances. Jimmy makes everyone feel welcome and important. Jimmy has been the backbone to PVH ER!

This past year and half have been tough for our ER team, there were many difficult days here, I remember times when we were short-staffed nurses, and then here walked in Jimmy with a smile ready to help our ER team and the community. He not only deserves his picture on a wall but recognition in all of California. Everyone should know about Jimmy “The Goat” Huynh of Petaluma Valley Hospital ER Department. He is and continues to be a true example of a stellar nurse, leader, and Hero. Thank you, Jimmy, for being a true leader when we most needed it. You are a true HERO!!!
