Thanks to Jimmy's compassion, courage, and integrity, I was able to have a positive experience at the VA outpatient clinic.
I am nominating Nurse Jimmy for the DAISY Award because he is an Extraordinary Nurse who shows compassion, courage, and integrity to all of his patients. I met him outside of the VA and told him how I was having issues getting care as a vet. He told me he was a vet and he helped me get my VA eligibility, found me an appointment, and showed me the clinic. With his help, I was able to believe in the VA system again, even though I had had bad experiences with it in the past.

When I first tried to establish care or make an appointment, I was feeling lost and overwhelmed. I didn't know where to start or how to get the help I needed. Jimmy saw how I was feeling and took the time to sit down with me and explain the process. As a vet who uses the Canton CBOC, he has credibility. He helped me get signed up for my Healthevet and made sure that I understood everything that was happening. Jimmy also went above and beyond to find me an appointment quickly. He knew that I just moved into the area and needed to get my care established, and he didn't want me to have to wait.

On the day of my appointment, Jimmy showed me around the clinic. He made sure that I knew where to go and what to expect. He also checked in with me throughout the day to make sure that I was doing okay. Thanks to Jimmy's compassion, courage, and integrity, I was able to have a positive experience at the VA outpatient clinic. He helped me get the care I needed and he made me feel like I mattered. He is a true asset to the VA and to the nursing profession.
