What can I even say about Jimmylyn to express how wonderful she is? I was in Observation at CFH; Jimmylyn was my nurse on the last day of my stay. Because of frustrations I was having with communication with Providers, I wasn't in the best mood and just wanted to go home. I was having an incredibly hard time staying awake due to meds and having nightmares, which was not helping the situation. She was amazing. She checked on me frequently, and knowing I didn't want to sleep as much as I was, she gently woke me to see if I wanted to be up. As my mood deteriorated, she suggested we go for a walk to see the sunshine.

During her break, she walked with me to the lobby to get some activity, and so I could look outside since there are no windows in Obs. She sat with me for a little while, and we chatted about life, skin care products, you name it! She gave me some tips on how to advocate for myself in the best way - I am not always great with verbal communication. She made sure my every need was attended to, always with a smile and never making me feel like she had to go out of her way. In fact, the ice machine on that unit made everything taste like chemicals, so she would go to the unit above to get fresh ice since I was on liquids only for a while. I have worked in healthcare business/administration for over 12 years and am still very impressed with her energy, spunk, and positivity! She absolutely displays a commitment to Carle's mission and values and is well deserving of this award!
