My husband was first admitted to Memorial Hermann Memorial City last year after he suffered a "significant brain bleed" and was transported by ambulance from another facility. It was then that I met an angel in the flesh, Jincy Thankachan, RN. At a time when I was frightened and in disbelief, Nurse Jincy brought a calming presence that provided assurance. She is professional in the way she handles her duties while maintaining her humanity each step of the way. She excels in patient and family care seeming to know instinctively what is needed. Without hesitation, she answered my questions and honored my requests. She was aware of my needs, emotional and physical. My husband remained in the hospital for about 2 weeks. Each morning that he was assigned to Nurse Jincy, I was relieved because I knew she would exceed expectations in the care she gave. During my husband's July-August hospitalization, nurse Jincy served as a preceptor to a new nurse, I thought, "how wonderful" that he is getting a teacher and role model who is the best.
My husband is back at MHMC due to another brain bleed. Although it is described as "small" his prognosis is not good. I am heartened to know that Nurse Jincy is his nurse today. He has had many hospital stays and I can say without a doubt that Jincy is in the top 1 percent. She is patient and kind. She is not boastful or proud. She exemplifies love.
