This is my second visit to Advent Health this week. I returned because I was having chest pain due to anxiety and made me believe I was having a heart attack. The doctors in the ER recommended that I stay for observation, so I was brought back to the Observation floor which was a true blessing. On this visit, I met Nurse Jinu who welcomed me in. One of the first things Nurse Jinu did was she filled out the whiteboard in my room. As she was talking with me about why I had come in I mentioned to her that although my cardio tests had come back clear, and my heart was strong, my unresolved numbness and tingling in my leg from my last visit was still concerning.
A Neurologist had been assigned to me and after a consultation, they had recommended another MRI to see if my numbness was due to a pinched nerve rather than M.S. (what the last four physicians had suspected). I told Nurse Jinu about this and how funny it was that I was hoping for my MRI results to reflect a pinched nerve. We laughed about hoping for this, but Nurse Jinu immediately said, "Let's make that the most important thing, your focus." So, she wrote on the whiteboard "Praying for Pinched Nerve." Below that Nurse Jinu wrote, "Trust in the Lord."It turned out to be a great reminder, having that phrase on my whiteboard. Every time I glanced over, I was able to refocus my thoughts and not let myself get carried away with worry.
After my last MRI results came back, Nurse Jinu was in the room when the Neurologist came to review the results and we shared the victory of hearing that I was indeed suffering from just a pinched nerve. It was awesome having someone to share my prayer and victory with. Nurse Jinu was so supportive and helped minister to my physical and spiritual well-being. I am truly blessed to have had such a lovely experience with such an amazing support staff! Thank you to everyone that contributed but most especially to Nurse Jinu for her unwavering support, spiritual guidance, and for being with me through this journey!
