I would like to nominate the Methodist APU/PACU team for the DAISY Award in recognition of their consistent commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and their ability to go above and beyond during some of the most vulnerable moments in a patient’s healthcare journey.

Every day, this team demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and empathy. From the moment patients arrive through pre-op, intraoperative care, PACU, and discharge, our perioperative staff works together to ensure patients and families feel safe, informed, and supported. They take the time to listen, answer questions thoroughly, and address fears with kindness and reassurance.

What sets this team apart is their willingness to go beyond their defined roles. They advocate for patients, anticipate needs before they are voiced, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure a high level of care. Even during high-pressure situations, unexpected challenges, or heavy workloads, this team remains calm, respectful, and focused on delivering an exceptional patient experience.

Patients and families frequently express gratitude for the compassion, dignity, and respect they receive from the perioperative staff. Many comment that the kindness shown to them made a stressful experience more manageable and, in many cases, unforgettable.
Our perioperative team exemplifies the core values of nursing excellence and embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award. Their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to patient care make a meaningful difference every day.

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
