Dr. Robins has been teaching as a full-time faculty for more than 20 years. She has been teaching across programs, and her passion for teaching is well known among students and colleagues. Recently, she has demonstrated excellent leadership as an interim program director of the Ph.D. program. She also has led a course redesign as a funded project. Dr. Robins is always prepared for each class for the best quality of learning. In addition, she has mentored junior faculty for teaching excellence. Dr. Robins has demonstrated as a role model for practicing compassion toward students as a faculty. She has been leading the SONLOVE (School of Nursing Living in Evalue Everyday) group that initiates compassion projects such as food drives, valentine's day treats in order to support and cheer up students not only within the school but also VCU as a whole. Dr. Robins encourages students to express their opinions and ideas. She is eager to listen to the students and understand them and takes lessons from her communication with them. Students are naturally fond of Dr. Robins. She has always practiced unbiased treatment of individual students as demonstrated in her way of communication and the language that she is using. She is always attentive and sensitive to the cultural, ethnic, social diversity of the students. Dr. Robins showed great interest in student learning as shown by her passion for course redesign projects. She will take as much time and energy as she can in order to encourage students' learning.
