joan geckle, BSN

Joan is a dedicated MWPH RN. She is active in many aspects of the unit including but not limited to precepting, nurse competencies, Neonatal Core Team and Patient Family Education Committee. I especially believe she should be commended for her undying commitment to parent education. She spends countless hours planning, perfecting and implementing strategies to assist our families in learning how to safely care for their child. She has completed numerous parent classes, instructing them in tracheostomy and gastrostomy care. She has developed and continues to develop videos, power points and handouts to assist in learning. She actively works with other disciplines to be sure learning is appropriate in all aspects, including those with language barriers. Joan is a nurse that demonstrates the extraordinary care and commitment that the DAISY award represents.
