July 2026 Honoree
Joan Grant-Robinson, RN
My sister was in the hospital for 28 days. I never left her. We had so many nurses during that time, but I believe on the third day a nurse whom I'd never seen before. I have stayed at the hospital with my mother and father; I have never encountered a nurse like my sister, and I did with Mrs. Joan. As soon as she walked in and smiled that smile of hers, I felt the love coming from her. As I said, I've stayed with family members before, never leaving. I have never met nor had the honor of having Mrs. Joan as a nurse.
She showed compassion, love, and understanding. She treated my sister as more than just a patient. She took time explaining things to us that we didn't understand. She put my sister in such great spirits. She was never in a hurry to leave us or told us she had to go because she was busy. Not one time. Mrs. Joan would even come in to check on us when she wasn't my sister's nurse. She didn't just run in the room and say, 'Hey, bye.' She visited, and she was sincere. I could feel the love from her. The love that she has for all humans.
We were so blessed and honored to have her not only as a nurse but a friend. Mrs. Joan is more than worthy of being recognized as an extraordinary nurse. Anyone who has had the pleasure of having her as a nurse is blessed. This hospital should be honored and honor Mrs. Joan. She is the best nurse.
