Joan Pool was nominated for the DAISY Award by a former patient's wife. In the nomination she states, "Joan took extra time to explain about the heart catheterization and explanation of the open heart surgery when I and my husband was very anxious about the procedures. Joan's medical knowledge and personal caring attitude helped us be more confident about our medical situation. When my husband had his heart surgery, Joan kept in touch with us and visited us in the hospital and showed us her care and concern. We were 150 miles from home. Joan made a big difference in our lives."
