After working 3 days Joan let us know she wouldn't be our nurse the following day. Before she left the room for the last time, she told us she would be praying for us. She was very sincere! About 45 minutes later I stepped out into the hall. She saw me and I thought she had left. She came straight to me. She had big tears in her eyes and said, "I'm so sorry I can't be here tomorrow. I love my patients. I want you to know I will pray for you each morning and night." She then went on to apologize for not being the one who gave her last shot because she was with another patient at the time. None was needed! Every nurse here has been so wonderful. As we hugged goodbye, the love and compassion Joan showed me after her shift will stay with me for the rest of my life.
