Joan Vrba, RN, BSHA
Joan has served dutifully as a nurse, for 42 years, 38 of them being at AMITA Health Bolingbrook. She was hired in 1983 after the opening of the Bolingbrook Medical Center, the first free-standing emergency room in the United States. She was the director of the emergency department. When the hospital was built, she worked in pain management as a nurse before stepping into the director role. She transitioned into the role of the Patient Experience Lead and has been training all associates in the hospital how to "be the patient experience". Her leadership and her personality have been integral to the culture of excellence at AMITA Health Bolingbrook.
