Nurse Joana from the emergency room was great and nice in treating me when I had a miscarriage. I was so upset and sad about what happened, but she was patient, listened, and explained everything to me. She made sure I was calm and reduced my sadness. She insisted on the physician giving me pain medication before getting the test done because I was in severe pain from contractions. She explained the treatment plan to me and my husband, and how to deal with pain and bleeding at home, and when we should come back to the emergency room. The way she talked, her smile, and her support were warm, and despite the number of patients in the emergency room that day, she stood by my side. I have seen her on a previous visit when my son was sick, and she had the same smile and skills, playing with the child, inserting a cannula, and drawing blood easily. She was excellent in explaining, following up, showing care for patient fear and anxiety, and providing everything before requesting it. I thank her so much, and I wish I knew how to speak English to thank her myself and show my gratitude for caring for me and my family. She really deserves this award for being a role model for nursing ethics and skills. Thank you.
