I was bucked off a horse and fractured my pelvis, broke two ribs, and punctured my lung. I had Joanie as my nurse on the day shift. She was awesome. I didn't want to take pain pills and she took the time to explain the benefit of staying on top of pain before it got out of control the first couple of days. She explained that I needed to endure pain as that delays healing. She assured me about my concerns of addiction to pain pills over a short period of time. She always went the extra mile to be patient and understanding my limitations when we started getting up and moving the first few times. She had a great sense of humor so I felt comfortable with her. She showed her years of knowledge and experience every time she came into my room. She is a true nurse "Nightingale", what a great example of a nurse.
