Joann Forsythe, RN

I would like to nominate Joann Forsythe from the Emergency Department. Joann has gone above and beyond with the DD patient, who has been housed in our emergency department for over 55 days. She has worked the entire time to care for him and meet his special needs, as he is non-verbal and autistic. She has sought guidance from people who work with this population. She ensures that his needs are met and has taught other team members caring for him how best to communicate with him to ensure that there is continuity of care while he is here, waiting on placement. She will bring him additional foods that she has learned he likes, and she makes sure that he receives them. She spends extra time with him when the flow of her shift allows. She is a shining member of the emergency room team and provides compassionate care to the behavioral health population.
