The day before Valentine's Day, Joanna's patient was diagnosed with a terminal condition. She quickly realized that this would be the last Valentine's Day that the patient would have with his wife. Joanna went to the gift shop and purchased a gift for him to give to his wife with her own money. She got an angel and some chocolates for him to give his wife and arranged for another nurse to ensure that the gifts were given to the patient on Valentine's Day as Joanna was off work that day. This was more than going above and beyond. She is a great addition to our Trauma/Neuro ICU family.
