 I had surgery for a left knee replacement. When I woke up, Joanna was there. Her kind, soothing voice immediately helped me feel relaxed. She talked with me, but even more importantly, she let me talk as much as I needed. I could tell she was busy working, yet I always felt that she was truly listening. At times, she even paused to give me her full attention.

Because my legs, feet, and body were slow to wake up from the spinal anesthesia, she called my husband so I could speak with him. He had been worried, and I needed him to hear my voice and know I was okay. That meant a great deal to both of us.

Joanna made sure all my needs were met. She felt like more than just a nurse doing her job—she felt like a new friend. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met. Joanna is beautiful inside and out, yet she remains humble. Her focus is completely on her patients, their needs, and their feelings. She is attentive, thorough, and committed to doing her work correctly.

I also noticed how clean the room was under her care. When I woke up, she made sure I had crackers and ginger ale, and she helped me order food from the cafeteria.

When it was time for me to be taken to my hospital room, she gave me a heartfelt goodbye. I even told my spouse that the surgery was worth it just to meet Joanna! She gets five stars from me.
