Joanna looked me in the eye whenever she spoke to me. Her eyes twinkled with emotional support and encouragement for me to get better so I could go home to recuperate. She established trust by explaining what she was doing and how I would perhaps feel. I was in the "loop" on my care 100%. My pain and comfort was paramount; she went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. She came when I buzzed for her, always with a smile and when my abdomen had some leakage she assured me with kindness and professionalism. I was embarrassed and she assured me with humor. Joanna did so much for me in the short stay unit that I am in awe of her abilities as a top notch RN. St. Joseph Hospital is indeed a better place for surgery with this outstanding lady on staff.
