Joanne consistently went above and beyond her job duties during my daughter’s nine week stay at University Medical Center at Princeton. My young daughter lives several hours away from Princeton, and experienced extreme home sickness in addition to her struggles with her illness. Joanne showed great compassion and provided comfort to her, becoming a sort of surrogate mother during my daughter’s stay.

On many occasions, Joanne would sit and hold my daughter’s hand and offer words of encouragement. Joanne not only tended to my daughter’s medical needs, but also to her emotional needs. She would then follow through with her care by calling us at home. I always felt at ease when I knew Joanne was on duty. She was sensitive to the fact that some patients need extra comfort and compassion, especially when far away from home. She also understood that a crisis affects a patient’s family as well as the patient. I am so grateful that Joanne was part of the team that cared for my daughter.

Thank you, Joanne, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
