Without Joanne, he would not be where he is today, in terms of his mindset or his treatment.
Joanne was very nice, knowledgeable, and reassuring when my father had to have thyroid surgery.

I am writing to nominate Nurse Joanne for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care and unwavering support during my recovery following a recent thyroidectomy. From the moment I returned from the PACU, I experienced a significant reaction to the anesthesia, which manifested as persistent nausea and vomiting. Feeling quite unwell, I found myself in a vulnerable state, but Joanne was there to provide immediate assistance. Not only did she stay by my side, but she also proactively contacted the surgical team to ensure I received the appropriate medications to alleviate my nausea. Joanne‘s bedside manner was extraordinary. She comforted me during what were undoubtedly some of my most uncomfortable moments. Her presence was soothing, and her ability to bring humor into the situation helped lift my spirits during a difficult time. I felt truly cared for and valued, not just as a patient, but as a person. Moreover, Joanne was remarkably prompt in responding to my needs, whether I called her on her phone or rang the call bell. Her consistent attentiveness gave me a sense of security and reassurance I greatly appreciated. Having the privilege of being under Joanne's care for two consecutive days reinforced the bond of trust and compassion she shares with her patients. She worked diligently to ensure I was ready for discharge, prioritizing my comfort and well-being so I could return home and rest in my own bed. For her kindness, dedication, and exemplary nursing skills, I wholeheartedly nominate Nurse Joanne for the DAISY Award. She embodies the spirit of compassionate care and has made a lasting impact on my healing journey. Thank you for considering this deserving candidate.

I am the hospitalist. Joanne took care of my patient with a new diagnosis of metastatic cancer, and he was dealing with a lot of anxiety related to his diagnosis and was hesitant to go forward with treatments such as radiation. She spent time and energy compassionately supporting the patient and his many family members. She helped make him feel comfortable getting his radiation treatments. Without Joanne, he would not be where he is today, in terms of his mindset or his treatment. This is the type of care she provides to all her patients- I say this having worked with her for 3 years. I would want her to take care of me if I were in the hospital. She deserves this award!
