Joanne is an exceptional patient/family advocate. She is an accomplished mentor/preceptor. Over the years we occasionally have organ donation candidate, which is always a very sad and emotional time for these families. Joanne has been the one on many occasions to prepare a memento for the grieving family, she would place the patient's hand print in a mold so the family could keep a part of their loved one.

Recently, we had a very sad case of a 31 year old who became an organ donor. Joanne came in on her day off and tried to prepare the mold, but we did not have all the materials readily available. She did, however, work with the family to obtain a lock of his hair and some small earrings and wrapped them up for his daughter, who was 8 months old at the time of his death. The family was very appreciate and complimentary of all the staff including Joanne.

I feel Joanne went above and beyond coming in on her day off to spend time and talent with this grieving family so this child will have something to remember her father when she is older.
