December 2023 Honoree
Joaquin Silva, RN
We were trying to take our 83-year-old mother into the ER at Lovelace. She was very sick and was confused about how the ER worked. It turned out that Joaquin was outside on a break. I went and got a wheelchair from inside and when I returned outside Joaquin showed up at the right time, he held the doors open and led us into the registration area where we were transferred to an exam room. Joaquin was respectful and caring; not only did he make sure our mother was comfortable but us as well. He brought in warm blankets to get her warmed up and was very attentive to her needs. He answered our questions or helped us to find out. He even noticed we were running low on water and brought us some. He is a great nurse. It made a 10-hour stay at the ER less stressful for all of us. Thank you for caring.
Thank you, Joaquin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
