Among all the people who were at the scene, she was the only one who helped, even though she still needed to go back to work the same day.
Ms. Alano goes above and beyond to help people, not just in the military community, but even outside her duty. Ms. Alano was on the same flight as my mother-in-law, who is visiting South Korea. My mother-in-law had a cardiac arrest in the airport parking lot. She was at the scene and helped me without hesitation to do CPR while other people were watching and not helping. She became my alternate when I was trying to revive my mother-in-law. She called 119 three times and was able to communicate with the locals.
When I was going to drive to the hospital to follow the ambulance, I asked if her if she could come with me to help translate. Although she had a duty, she didn’t hesitate and went to the hospital with me. At the hospital, all of a sudden, I got high blood pressure, and she helped me calm down. She stayed, making sure I was okay, and asked for my family to come. She stayed until they pronounced my mother-in-law dead. She became our family support system.
Although she’s a stranger in our eyes, in our hearts, we will be forever grateful to her. Among all the people who were at the scene, she was the only one who helped, even though she still needed to go back to work the same day. I am thankful from the bottom of my heart.
