Her leadership not only sets a standard for exceptional care but also inspires others to strive for the highest levels of professional and personal achievement, as she mirrors a servant leader like Mother Teresa.
We are honored to nominate Ms. Jocelyn De Leon for the DAISY Award, which recognizes exceptional nurses who go above and beyond in their commitment to patient care and professional excellence. De Leon embodies the qualities and spirit of this prestigious recognition through their extraordinary leadership and dedication to our nursing team, as we witness it during the daily operation of our unit 6North. De Leon has demonstrated remarkable leadership qualities that significantly impact both patient care and staff morale.

One particular instance that highlights their exceptional contributions occurred during our recent CMS audit when she handled it graciously and unselfishly changed her schedule to come and cover our unit tirelessly. Joy has been instrumental in supporting our new manager each time we have a new leader. When faced with clinical challenges and highly complex patient care and family, De Leon took decisive action by doing service recovery and supporting staff through quick debriefing, etc. Her ability to address the issue not only improved patient outcomes but also fostered a supportive environment for our team.

Furthermore, De Leon has been instrumental in inspiring staff for her dedication to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment and has directly contributed to enhanced patient care and a more cohesive, motivated team. De Leon, throughout her years in nursing at KP Redwood City for over three decades, demonstrates extraordinary compassion and skill in nursing. De Leon exemplifies these values through their daily actions and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her leadership not only sets a standard for exceptional care but also inspires others to strive for the highest levels of professional and personal achievement, as she mirrors a servant leader like Mother Teresa.

De Leon, on a personal note, when she’s off work, enjoys time caring for and going to places with her family, particularly for her special son (challenged with highly functional autism spectrum), inside and outside of the country, specifically in Disneyland, the happiest place. In addition, she actively supports the communities' initiatives through her church group activities locally and internationally. I am confident that De Leon is a deserving candidate for the DAISY Award. Her contributions are a testament to the values and mission of our organization and the nursing profession as a whole.
