Jocelyn Lovelace, BSN, RN

Jocelyn worked tirelessly with an extremely complex patient to facilitate testing that was requested by family and arranged by Dr. J and other GI physicians. The patient's hemoglobin was dangerously low, which complicated and limited his plan of care. Jocelyn's experience at SMC was pivotal in the recommendation that a particular GI study, unavailable at PMC, was available at SMC. She spent a considerable amount of time coordinating with case management and SIPS to try to meet both the needs of the patient, while also considering the interests of the hospital. She spoke at great length with the patient and his concerned family, taking great care to ensure that their concerns were validated, their questions were answered, and they were reassured that the patient's health and safety, and religious medical preferences were of the utmost importance to her and this organization. She went beyond the call of duty, and we are so fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and compassionate nurse leader.
