Jocelynn showed genuine care and respect to us and our daughter, making sure to build rapport with our youngest daughter so that she felt safe and secure with her as her nurse.
Just a little background on our expertise when it comes to hospital visits. We have three children and two with special needs (Spina Bifida, Hematologic conditions, g tubes, hydrocephalus, etc.) who have been hospitalized many times over their short lives due to surgeries and investigations of problems. For this visit, we arrived at the hospital around 8 pm due to be admitted for the remainder of the evening to prepare for a bone marrow biopsy the following morning. We came to our room and were quickly greeted by Jocelynn, with her smile on ready to care for our daughter. I'm not talking about run-of-the-mill nursing that is simply ready based on training. I'm talking about your nurse already knowing the background of most of your child's extensive healthcare interactions before you say a word. When gathering history, we were simply blown away by just how prepared our nurse was to help our daughter and invest her time into knowing about her patient. Jocelynn was absolutely amazing. We've probably had hundreds of nurses over the past 5 years with our children and I can honestly say that Jocelyn was the best out of all of them. She was on top of our daughter’s care assisting the whole way and making sure that she was tracking everything that went on along with the deep research she conducted to best be an advocate and caretaker of our daughter. She showed genuine care and respect to us and our daughter, making sure to build rapport with our youngest daughter so that she felt safe and secure with her as her nurse. This single experience adjusted our whole perspective on the hospital as a whole. Nurses have the ability to make an impact on patients and families every day that can change the whole course of treatment and perspective/outlook moving forward. Jocelynn is a dedicated nurse that put my daughter and our family at the forefront of her focus. We are honored to have had her as our nurse and truly hope to have her again next time.
