Jodi listens. She doesn't try to make healthcare a 'one-size-fits-all' experience, but rather, she pays attention to what patients tell her. I was there with a patient, J, and he and I both felt that Jodi went out of her way to accommodate our sometimes 'outside the box' requests. After several failed IVs, Jodi came in to start a new one and he said something like, 'Are you really good? Because I'm a hard stick with rolling veins and I've had a lot of really bad experiences.' Jodi's response, which I loved, was, 'I'm good, but let's not take any chances. Let's go ahead and call the IV team.' She did, they got it on the first try.
A second example is that I'm a clinical psychologist and needed to return some client calls in a place that would have at least a reasonable shot at being private. I had already searched the hospital looking for a place and hadn't been able to come up with anything. I mentioned it to Jodi, we put our heads together for a bit, and she came up with a perfect solution. Definitely compassionate care. I wasn't even the patient, but she made sure I had a good experience, too. J and I were there for 2 weeks. I could list many more of Jodi's extraordinary qualities but those two were the first to come to mind. Jodi stands out as excellent.
