Jodi McHargue was my nurse in the PACU following an operation I had. While memory may be hazy from the anesthesia, I clearly remember the absolutely exceptional care I received, as well as the patient in the bed beside me. Beyond making sure I was healthy and stable and very closely monitoring my vitals, Jodi made sure I felt completely cared for. She was so happy to answer my obscure, anesthesia-induced questions, like whether I wasn’t actually breathing because my respirations were a little low.

I told her I had to pee, and given where my surgery was anatomically, it wasn’t that simple. Without a second thought, she helped me do some things. If I had a request, such as another delicious Pepsi Zero, she had it in my hand in the blink of an eye. She talked me through everything and made sure to be thorough to ensure I could actually retain the information.

She was tasked with contacting my wife as I was moving my way through the PACU, and my wife couldn’t have been happier to speak with her. She says that Jodi had a spirit that couldn’t be matched and was incredibly informative. The final piece that made me want to nominate Jodi was the get well card I received in the mail. While I’m sure it’s a standard procedure, seeing it signed by my nurses filled me with so much joy during my recovery.

While I had many great nurses that day, Jodi was like a nurse I’d never had before. While it may sound like she was just doing her job well, there was so much more of a nurturing spirit to her that made me feel great as a patient. Jodi is the type of nurse everyone would want to see in any department, in any role.

Thank you, Jodi, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
