At the end of the day, Jodi still has a smile, calming presence, and the willingness to help staff provide the best care to the patients and families we serve. She truly is a role model we can easily be proud of at Children’s MN.
Jodi has worked at Children’s MN over 15 years and has been in her current role for about 1.5 years. She has all the qualities you would expect from a Great Children’s MN leader. She is extremely dedicated, kind, and knowledgeable about all things nursing and beyond. Her listening skills and ability to make others feel welcome are unsurpassed. She has a knack for making you feel like she has all the time in the world to stop and listen to you or answer questions. She jumps in to help whenever and wherever. She shows excitement for new processes and can see and share the “vision”. At the end of the day, she still has a smile, calming presence, and the willingness to help staff provide the best care to the patients and families we serve. She truly is a role model we can easily be proud of at Children’s MN.

Our nurse leader has the ability to listen and help guide staff to resolve conflict on their own. In situations that require her involvement, she has demonstrated fairness, always looking at the facts and Children’s MN policies, assisting in resolution while keeping patients' and families’ best interests as a priority. She will bring in resources as needed and encourage staff education and self-evaluation. Overall, our leader has a knack for making staff feel safe to speak up and know that what they have to say is valued.

Jodi is ALWAYS accessible to staff, providers, families, and the community. If there is a meeting or event that she needs to attend she communicates a contact number or puts a plan in place for resources. When she is in her office, she makes anyone who comes to see her feel like they are all that matter at that moment. We all know how hard our leaders have been working this past year, even with all the changes and stressors, she has a calming presence and shows her staff how they are valued.

As you can imagine Jodi has excellent communication skills. Our department is kept up to date on Children’s vision, new endeavors, and changes to process or policy. She encourages attendance at Town Hall meetings, committee meetings, staff meetings, daily huddles, education sessions, and professional development. She is good about sending out updates via email between staff meetings.

As mentioned before she enjoys and shares her excitement when collaborating and problem-solving through process improvements to better the care for our patients and families. She recognizes the already strong positive work environment of her departments which she continues to enrich and promote. She goes out of her way to make sure the staff is cared for, acknowledged, supported, and valued. The joy our leader expresses with doing her job is contagious! It makes all of us want to follow suit and help others in a positive way. I have heard her say many times that she feels privileged to do her job at Children’s and that energy definitely trickles down to her staff. We want to acknowledge this endless support. She is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
