Jodi has always gone above and beyond to ensure our patients receive the best possible care, but she truly exemplified the meaning of compassionate care when tragedy struck at a community Christmas parade she attended with her family. A man drove his vehicle through the Waukesha Christmas parade killing six people and injuring 62 others. Jodi and her family were able to get out of harm's way, but being the nurse that she is, went back to care for those who were injured and needed assistance, including an 8-year-old boy who suffered major injuries to his head and seemed to be all alone amidst the chaos. Jodi stayed with him ensuring he was stable enough until EMS arrived, and she directed her sons to help other victims. I recommended Jodi Singsime for the DAISY Award, not just for the detailed care she provides to our patients in the clinic, but because she continuously lives DaVita's Core Values and Our Caring Behaviors even outside of work and in the face of great tragedy.
