Jodi is the most uplifting and encouraging mentor. She is everything I strive to be as a nurse and so much more. She is so knowledgeable about her job, and you can tell she truly loves it.
Jodi Weidman has been with Intermountain for over 30 years; she is rightfully called the “Unit Historian”. She can recall names, dates, events, when new policy’s came out, she is a walking policy manual.
She is our educator on the Mom/Baby floor. What a perfect person to introduce new employees to our unit, to make them feel comfortable in a new environment. I know this firsthand! Everyone on our floor knows they can come to her and know they are coming to a friend who will help them. Not just help them, but teach them in a non-confrontational way with information that they can trust, and it’ll be correct.
Jodi teaches our SIM lab for the Mom/Baby floor. While I attend these labs each year, I see Jodi being very thoughtful in making sure everyone is at ease, that this is a safe place to learn, and that sharing about our experience is beneficial. Lots of stress as you go through the lab, but I can see the value of going through an emergency situation and knowing what to do.
For example, we had a real postpartum hemorrhage, and Jodi dropped what she was doing and went to help. She just recently had a SIM lab a few days prior; everyone knew where to stand and what to do. The father was sitting in the room observing everyone. He made a comment that with his wife’s other delivery, she also hemorrhaged. He observed chaos and people running around. But this time, he noticed calmness with the staff; they knew what to do, everyone had a job, and they worked well as a team. This was a testament to Jodi and her work on the Mom/Baby floor.
Our staff commented that they weren’t in a panic; they knew the job they were assigned and felt empowered. During Epic, she engaged in the prep work of creating Epic for Intermountain Mom Baby floors.
From our staff:
“Jodi is extremely knowledgeable. I know if I need anything, I can count on Jodi! She has helped me countless times, and I should know since this is number 3 for me!”
“Jodi has a way of connecting with everyone she meets. She is instantly friends with her patients and makes them feel special. She sets an example of kindness, selflessness, and love effortlessly. She is one of the greatest women I’ve ever known!”
“Jodi is the most uplifting and encouraging mentor. She is everything I strive to be as a nurse and so much more. She is so knowledgeable about her job, and you can tell she truly loves it. She pushes me to be a better person, to ask the hard questions, and to think critically. She is very approachable and never makes me feel less than if I have a dumb question. I wouldn’t be the nurse I am today without Jodi being a mentor and a friend. Jodi is our keystone.“
“Jodi cares deeply for the staff that she works with. She always tries to make everyone feel included and loved and takes an interest in what is happening in our lives outside of work. She makes sure we all have the tools we need to be the best mother/baby nurses that we can be and then pushes us to be our very best selves.”
“Jodi has helped instill confidence in my abilities and is someone whom I look up to!”
“She goes above and beyond to make learning fun for all different types of learning styles and makes an effort to connect with people.”
“Jodi is the heart of our unit – she pours love into everything she does, and everyone can feel it! Her kindness, wisdom, and humor have touched more people than she’ll ever know, and I am so lucky to work alongside her as she mentors by example.”
“She’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met and makes me laugh every day. She is so patient as I’m learning how to be a nurse and helps me fulfill my full potential!”
As you can see, Jodi is much loved and has impacted so many on our floor.
