"All of a sudden Jodie became my guardian angel...," wrote the patient, who detailed how Van Kirk's presence and comforting counsel helped the patient cope first with a difficult diagnosis, and then the unexpected death of a loved one.
"This nurse is what nursing is all about in regards to care, compassion and empathy," the patient wrote. "Jodie is not my nurse anymore in my eyes, she is my family. I never can ever repay her for giving me the courage to deal with my medical problems and the will to fight on. God sent her at the right time for me and my family. I always will be in her debt."
