Jody comes in and says that if anything, he could take my dog to his personal home and care for her himself until I get out or we find something else.
I’m a young guy who came to Colorado from Texas just to take a break from life and explore all the great scenery Colorado had to offer. Just me and my dog and my car. Unfortunately, I had a flare-up of an already existing illness while on this trip in an unknown new area to me, causing me to have to go to an ER to get further treatment so I can get back on the road. I go to Centennial hospital ER where I met my nurse Jody. Right off the bat, I could tell Jody was one of yall’s top nurses. He immediately made me feel comfortable and was easing stress from the crazy situation all while still providing me with high-quality medical care to try to get my health better.
Jody gets down to you on a personal level and really connects with his patients. Not just because it’s his job, it’s just who he is. After further evaluation/tests/scans, they said they wanted to admit me for continued evaluation and treatment. Rewind a bit since I’m only traveling by myself and my dog. I have nowhere to stay or nobody to go to. Being admitted for an unknown amount of time, we had to figure out what to do with my dog. Before I could even start working on that, and with no hesitation at all, Jody and the other nurse started finding a solution. Jody comes in and says that if anything, he could take my dog to his personal home and care for her himself until I get out or we find something else. That was a huge thing for him to offer to do for a stranger. I could tell he was doing it out of the kindness of his heart, not looking for anything in return.
Jody and L, my dog, meet and we could immediately tell they both loved each other. I usually don’t feel comfortable just leaving L with anybody since there hasn’t been a day we’ve been separated. But seeing the two interact, I felt more than comfortable letting Jody care for her if he was ok with it. Just the fact that he wasn’t only a great nurse to me who wanted to, and did, provide the best patient care possible, but out of nurse mode, he was a kind friend and went way above and beyond anything he ever had to do. I can’t thank him enough.
