Jody was recognized for taking extra time throughout her day to sit down and spend time with her patients and listen to them. She recently cared for an elderly patient who lost his wife. Jody took the time to sit with him and talk through his emotions or sometimes just listened to him talk about his wife and his memories of her. Each time she cared for this patient she made it a priority to identify things she could do throughout her day to make his day better. Every day she will go to see him and spend time with him regardless if she was assigned to care for him. This patient didn't always remember Jody or remember that she did all of these acts of kindness. For Jody, all that mattered was that he was able to find some happiness in his day, even if that meant laughing at a joke or getting chocolate ice cream on his tray.
Jody is very new to the nursing profession, but not a beginner at treating people with dignity, respect, and compassion.
