Being in the emergency room in pain and bleeding internally is a traumatic experience. Much of my anxiety went away after I entered the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU). The enthusiastic friendly nurses made my wife and me comfortable immediately. I observed how all of them dealt with so many different patient types and issues. Their work is stressful and yet they continue to do it with compassion and empathy. I met many outstanding nurses, but Jody stood out. Although I am sure she had many other patients under her care, she made me feel like a VIP.
