Jody was very frank and thorough in describing our procedures and what to expect, ensured we were calm, and had everything needed to feel secure.
My mom and I brought my sister to Ingalls hospital to have outpatient abdominal surgery. When we made it up to the 2nd floor Surgical Nurse’s Station for check-in it was a totally (positive) experience. Nurse Jody turned our fear and anxiety into a warm and welcoming experience. She absolutely fits the described criteria for nomination. She was very frank and thorough in describing our procedures and what to expect, ensured we were calm, and had everything needed to feel secure. She really put forth efforts that left us feeling as though we were important and in good hands and about to receive the best care that any hospital can give. Nurse Jody even went above and beyond to ensure that the lobby staff would not make it uncomfortable for my 85 yr old mom (who was left sitting in the downstairs lobby) awaiting (someone) to take her home being that she was not allowed up to the 2nd floor waiting area due to Covid restrictions. To receive service such as this not only helps a patient and his/her family physically but emotionally as well. In fact, it adds so much to the entire healing process as a whole. It’s the small things that mean so much especially in a time of crisis and this nurse presented a prime example--she was exceptional, and in our opinion is a true DAISY Nurse.
