I recently underwent a procedure at KCH. Jody was the nurse who administered the test. I know she sensed my tribulations and anxiety. She thoroughly explained the procedure, its purpose, and what I would experience during the test. It was very comforting to know that she had performed this procedure for many years. Her calm demeanor and encouragement during the procedure were invaluable.

When we were wrapping up final instructions, following the procedure, I asked if I could hug her. I don’t think I could have made it through the procedure without her. Knowledge can be learned, skills can be taught, but compassionate patient care comes from within the individual. This nurse possesses all of these attributes.

I am confident that she provides this same care to all of the patients from the beginning to the end of the day. Performing this procedure for so many years speaks to the commitment and importance she places on her job. I am grateful that she was there for me, and I hope other patients will be lucky to have a nurse like Jody. She is a remarkable, gifted, and skilled nurse.
