Mr. Adame demonstrated leadership and a great deal of patient care during a mental health rotation. Mr. Adame experienced a patient having a severe neurological crisis where the patient became unconscious and collapsed to the floor. Mr. Adame did not hesitate to "jump" in when asked by the nurse to assist. This student knew exactly what to do. The patient, under this student's care, was vomiting while unconscious; the student placed the patient on the side-lying position and maintained a watchful eye to make sure the patient did not destabilize further. The student stayed with the patient for about 30 minutes, on the floor keeping the patient safe from harm, while EMS arrived on the scene. Joe demonstrated great empathy for this individual. He truly embodied the values the Hunt School of Nursing promotes in the student body!
