I came to Summit not only believing that I was dying, but also just bleeding out entirely. I have had kind nurses and good nurses, but I have never had a nurse such as Joe Callis. He assured me that not only would I survive, but that he would help to pull me through. He answered every question entirely, did not condescend in any way, and went above and beyond to see that I was comfortable, secure and felt that I had someone to fight with me.
I never had to wait on Joe if I requested a thing. He never tired of my fears, and respectfully reassured me. He worked well with all other medical personnel: doctors, other nurses, etc. not to mention all patients he was assigned to, and even those he wasn't. He is most deserving of this award. You couldn't get any more deserving that he is. So, please consider his professionalism, altruism, and consummate work ethic. Joe Callis is all deserving of such an award. A special "thank-you" from this recovering patient!
