Joe was nominated by a patient whom he cared for 2.5 years earlier. Not only was he kind, but he remembered her, which helped get her through a crisis. Joe was attentive to both the patient and her husband. He was knowledgeable and took the time to educate his patient on a new medication and prepare her for discharge. Joe coordinated the patient seeing the doctor before she left for home and was considerate of her family schedule. He knew they needed to be able to pick up their son after they left the hospital. Joe is an exceptional nurse who exhibits empathy and human kindness. His patient and her family are forever grateful for Joe.
