He's been A's nurse for 4 days now and I will never forget Joe and all he's done for A and me.
My sister, who is handicapped and has special needs, was sent to the ER because of vomiting. I called later that day to get an update and was told she had been admitted and transferred to 4 East. A young man Joe answered and said he was A's nurse. I was quite upset as I was completely blindsided when Joe told me A was going to have 3 procedures the next day. I was very upset as I'm A's guardian and 800 miles away. Joe was kind!
Understanding how and why I was so upset, Joe explained what A's day would look like and spent at least 30 minutes with me on the phone. He asked what he could do to help A and make her more comfortable. I told him she loves music and to keep it playing for her. She especially likes the 70's. Fast forward to when again A was sent to the ER for vomiting. I flew home Monday evening and went straight to the hospital. Upon entering A's room at 10 p.m. I was surprised to see A sleeping comfortably and 70's music playing. 2 PCA's were in the room within 5 seconds of me being there to make sure I was supposed to be there. After names were exchanged and the ladies being ok with me being there, I asked who put this music on? They both said, Joe! In an instant, I knew my sister was in good hands. A nurse who remembered something I said and was applying it 4 months later is someone special. He's been A's nurse for 4 days now and I will never forget Joe and all he's done for A and me.
