My wife and I came to Pomerene at 9:30 PM. She was very weak and distressed due to low hemoglobin levels. Staff in the ER started a blood transfusion. Joel came to the ER to move my wife to her room on the 3rd floor, offering to help carry personal items while pushing the bed with my wife and the equipment carrier pole. Throughout the night, he performed extraordinary care and service on both personal and professional levels. We are recommending him for a DAISY Award for all of the following reasons: personal concern for patient and family professionalism, extraordinary service explaining all procedures and medications, personal concern, patience, precision, and stopping in on his way home off duty for a last check on monitors to be sure all was well and wishing us a good day before he went home.
