To always be a patient advocate is not an easy task. To come to work every day and give your best to people who are not at their best takes compassion and humility. To explain the myriad details of medicine to every patient so that they understand and are comfortable takes a special talent. Joel’s humility and brilliance are exceptional. Even though I am a colleague, he made my time as a patient much easier to bear.
