Joel Nunez is a registered nurse (RN) who practices on the Resource Team. Joel is being honored with the DAISY Award for going above and beyond for the patients and families he cares for. Joel is described as being an awesome nurse who has the utmost compassion for his patients.
Recently, Joel worked to calm the patient and their family as he understands that when a patient arrives on the Critical Care Unit, there is a tremendous amount of apprehension and uncertainty. He was able to bridge the gap between many people by working to interact with the patient, family, his peers, and physicians in such a way that communication was very positive and effective. Joel strived to involve the family as much as possible to alleviate their fears and encourage them to support the patient. Joel is commended for displaying professionalism and practicing holistic nursing.
Joel is described by his peers as being knowledgeable and helpful. Joel is known as the go-to person and can bring calm to chaotic and stressful situations. Joel is always smiling and bringing encouraging words to those he works with. Joel's managers stated that he is an awesome preceptor that the nursing residents fight over to work with. He is a frequently requested preceptor because of his strong ability to teach and demonstrate his vast skills and abundance of knowledge. Joel's managers commend him for a job well done and working to meet every need of the unit and hospital every chance he gets.
Because of Joel's compassionate and caring efforts, his patients experience a level of care that exemplifies the impact nurses have in creating an environment where patients and families feel at home.
