Joey Kingston, RN
I would like to recognize Joseph Kingston, RN, for exemplifying exceptional patient care through trust and emotional support.
One evening, a 23-month-old trauma patient with a bone flap required an MRI due to increased swelling of the brain. This patient had no family present to assist with the MRI.
In order to successfully complete the imaging without any unnecessary medications or delay in care, Joey offered to get into the MRI machine with the patient to help comfort and soothe him.
Joey demonstrated a special connection with this patient and worked well with the healthcare team to meet the special needs of this patient and the situation.
Not only did Joey demonstrate a caring attitude, but he also served as a role model to his new nurse orientee.
Because Joey went above and beyond the call of duty, the patient had a successful MRI without needing any additional imaging, and the patient's family did not have to come in during the middle of the night.
Joey is deserving of this award for numerous reasons. He is a great leader on PSCU, and he demonstrates the RITE values in all he does.
