He also was able to articulate in terms I could understand and cited recent studies to help me understand my diagnosis and the treatments.
Joey was my first nurse for my first chemo infusion. I can’t begin to state or express the fear I had going into this journey but can say he demonstrated all of the core values. In evidence-based practice, he scrubbed the hubs of all my ports (on IV line) for 20 seconds; he watched the clock to ensure he did it long enough. He also was able to articulate in terms I could understand and cited recent studies to help me understand my diagnosis and the treatments. Based on the right care at the right time, I knew he has been behind the scenes supporting patients and helping them navigate the resources available based on things I share with him during office visits and infusion center treatments. For example, I had discussed how much muscle mass I had lost, and immediately he put a referral in for me to see oncology rehab. The thing that Joey really excels at, though, is communicating with my treatment team. I just mention a symptom, and he follows up with the team immediately, and solutions are discussed. Overall, Joey has been a source of knowledge, an ear that deeply listens and finds solutions & support, and is a compassionate person that truly cares about his patients. THANK YOU!
