After working a full shift, Joey went out of his way to transport a pediatric behavioral health patient.
Due to undesirable weather, our transportation service reported that they would be postponing all transports until the next day. I was caring for a young behavioral health patient who was going to lose her bed if she was unable to get to the facility before morning.
After a full day's work, Joey made a 6-hour round trip to ensure this patient would not lose her bed.
The patient was feeling very defeated about the repeated postponement of transport. When she heard that Joey was going to take her, she was incredibly grateful. This was so far above and beyond what was expected of anyone.
Joey cares deeply about the patients we see, and it shows!
